I Know It Is Just Your Name But It Is True Art

I grew up in a large metropolitan city. Everywhere I would go I would see graffiti on walls, dumpsters, on the ground, and anywhere else these graffiti artists would see fit to tag. I hated it. I thought it just made our city look ugly and I figured nobody really cared who these people were so it made no sense for them to out their names everywhere. About a year and a half ago I was waiting for the train on my way to work. I happened to look ahead of me at the graffiti and realized it was not just a name it was art. The name was merely a signature so you would know who created it - such as Banksy. The boldness of the designs and the colors used were great. Looking at them I started to wonder about the back stories of the artists. I wanted to know what they looked like and where they came from. Since then every time I see graffiti I know it is about self expression and not about tearing up the place I live in.
